Counihans Bar is proud to be associated with the Squib Class sailing dingy racing events that were held in Kinsale this year. The "Squib" is a mono-hulled, fixed-keeled boat that can be sailed by 2 or 3 people. Consequently, this facilitates disabled and able-bodied crew to sail together. This class of boat is used by the IDSA - Irish Disabled Sailing Association.

Squibs beating off Charles Fort, Kinsale    "There is only one thing better than being able to sail on equal terms with able-bodied sailors - and that is beating them! Sailing is the only sport I know of where this is possible" - a top competing disabled sailor.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mick Field who took the event, the rest of the field and Counihans' first prize by storm this year.

If you would like to give this type of sailing a try why not contact Kevin Downing , Phone 021-385176(h), 021-382583(w) and 087-2546880(mobile). A number of members have progressed to purchasing their own squibs and there is a very competitive fleet in Kinsale.

To all contestants we wish you "Fair Sailing" and hope that you all enjoyed the event as much as we here at Counihans did. Every best wish goes out to all who helped in organizing this event also.
